Operations have begun at the Navi Mumbai International Airport with the first IndiGo flight landing from Bengaluru, marking a major expansion of Mumbai's aviation infrastructure. On Day One, airlines including IndiGo, Air India Express, Akasa Air and Star Air are operating domestic flights to nine destinations. The new airport is expected to ease congestion at the capacity-hit Mumbai International Airport and boost passenger handling in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani welcomed passengers, calling the launch a proud moment for Mumbaikars and a long-awaited relief for Mumbai's air traffic.
