G7 Summit Hot Mic Moments: Meloni Has Quit Smoking, Macron Forgets Watch

Large events with world leaders usually have a heavily choreographed program. Most of the time a Host Broadcaster provides live video of interesting moments like official photos, doorstep comments and inside the official meeting room. Sometimes music is played to drown out the coversations between leaders, other times the audio is mute. At the G7 in Evian, France, those intimate moments of world leaders talking to each other were carried by the French G7 Host Broadcaster with exceptional audio. Viewers heard UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer ask Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni “Did you sleep alright Georgia? Did you sleep okay?” Meloni responded with personal news that she stopped smoking cigarettes one month ago. European Council President Antonio Costa volunteered that he stopped smoking 21 years ago in 2005.
