"FTAs Will Induce Private Capex In The Next 24 Months," Says Piyush Goyal

Speaking to NDTV, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said expanded market access through FTAs will boost exports across labour-intensive sectors like textiles, footwear, leather goods, pharmaceuticals and electronics, creating strong incentives for fresh private capex in the next two years. Goyal listed a range of products that will now enjoy zero-duty access to the US, giving Indian industry a major competitive edge. Addressing concerns from apple growers and farmers, he insisted the opening has been carefully calibrated with minimum import prices, quotas and tariff protections to safeguard domestic interests. His message, exports will rise, investments will follow, and India stands to gain across the board.
