Ferry Carrying Nearly 270 Passengers And Crew Capsizes Off Northern Cyprus

A ferry carrying nearly 270 passengers and crew capsized off the coast of northern Cyprus on Sunday, leaving at least seven people dead. Northern Cyprus Prime Minister Unal Ustel said 237 people had been rescued, while a search continued for another 24 people. The catamaran-style ferry was travelling from Kyrenia to Tasucu in Turkey when it began taking in water just 15 minutes after departure amid adverse weather conditions. Video footage from the scene showed survivors in life jackets floating around the capsized vessel as rescue operations continued.
