UP ADG Law and Order Prashant Kumar has told NDTV that demolitions carried out at the properties of alleged accused of Friday violence in Saharanpur and Prayagraj have been done by the civic authorities and not by the police. He added that public property was damaged during the Friday protests against former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma's comments of Prophet. Reacting to a video of UP cops beating the accused in custody, the top cop said that an investigation has been launched and action will be taken.
