India now has 2,226 tigers in the wild today which is 70 percent of the world’s tigers. Speaking about the 30 percent increase in the tiger population, superstar Amitabh Bachchan, who has been the ambassador of the NDTV-Aircel Save Our Tigers campaign, said that he is excited about the increase in tiger numbers and is happy to be associated with this initiative to encourage tiger conservation. Not too long ago, India was facing an acute tiger crisis. That’s when NDTV in association with Aircel came up with this campaign to create awareness about the alarming state of the tiger in the country and save tigers from extinction.
