Often air pollution is thought of as a problem that is restricted to the outdoors. But this episode debunks that myth and goes beyond exhaust pipes and chimneys to look at sources of indoor air pollution which according to a WHO report kills 13 lakh Indians every year. One major source of household air pollution in rural areas is the reliance of 87% households on solid fuels like wood and coal. Indoors in urban areas are not safe either, since the risk of carpet dust, fumes from paints, pets and suspended particles looms large.
