Union Cabinet Minister for Environment, Bhupendra Yadav, met the family of the man who was killed by an elephant in Kerala's Wayanad. On February 10, a man was killed by an elephant in the Wayanad district. Speaking to NDTV, the minister said, "The movement of the herd takes place in this corridor and therefore we need better coordination to track them. We need capacity building and we have proposed that we proposed to build a base centre of the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) for capacity building and better coordination in southern states. I met the families of victims, locals and people from the church who had come to meet them and local MLAs. There were comprehensive talks and I want to assure you that under the Prime Minister's leadership steps will be taken for the protection of wildlife and human life as well."
