A Chennai George Town Magistrate Court has issued an arrest warrant against senior DMK leader K. Ponmudy after he failed to appear before the court in a case linked to his alleged controversial remarks.
The court has directed the police to produce Ponmudy before it by September 2.
The complaint was filed by BJP councillor Uma Anandhan, alleging that Ponmudy made objectionable remarks about women, Saivism, and Vaishnavism during a public event last year. The remarks had sparked widespread criticism, and Ponmudy was subsequently removed from his party positions.
