Divya Deshmukh won the FIDE Women's Chess World Cup final and also became India's 88th Grandmaster. While talking to ANI on the same, she said, "This is the hard work of several years. I hope this is just a stepping stone to achieving more of my goals. I think we both (Koneru Humpy and she) were under a lot of pressure. But there was one good thing: since this was India's final, the trophy would have come to India. I think this is fantastic for Indian Chess and for the popularity of Chess in India...It took me a few seconds to realise after winning. I teared up a little and I was looking for my mother...I am lucky that I could become an inspiration. I am hoping that with this victory, more girls and boys will play Chess and get to know more about it..."
