Delhi Truck Strike | Only 200 Trucks Enter Delhi, AIMTC 3-Day Jam | Dr. Harish Sabharwal Exclusive

Exclusive conversation with Dr. Harish Sabherwal, National President of All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC). The three-day nationwide transport strike (21-23 May 2026) called by AIMTC has received massive support across Delhi-NCR. Daily inflow of nearly 70,000 trucks into Delhi dropped sharply to just 100-200 trucks on Day 1. Delhi CM Rekha Gupta is scheduled to meet AIMTC President Dr. Harish Sabherwal this afternoon to discuss their demands. Transporters clarify that the protest is not against the people of Delhi, but against the anti-transport policies of the Delhi Government and CAQM. Key Demands: • Immediate rollback of steep hikes in Environment Compensation Charge (ECC) • Withdraw the ban on BS-IV vehicles from November 2026 • Exempt BS-VI vehicles from ECC • ECC should apply only to transit vehicles, as per original Supreme Court order • Exemption for vehicles carrying Essential Commodities and Empty Trucks ₹1,500 crore collected from ECC in 2024 — transporters demand transparency on fund utilisation. Full details and strong message from Dr. Harish Sabherwal in this video.
