Arshiya Takkar, a queer individual has approached the Delhi High court demanding medical rights for queer couples in the country. The Delhi High Court has in turn asked the Centre to clarify the rationale behind excluding unmarried and same sex couples from giving consent on their partner's behalf for medical treatment/emergencies. The court has further said that it saw no valid justification for such exclusion and has asked the Centre to file its reply. The court is set to reconvene to hear the case on the 27th of October.
