Paras Tyagi, the President of Centre for Youth Culture Law & Environment (CYCLE), says construction on 5,000 acres of floodplains one of the reasons behind the unprecedented floods in Delhi. 'Why are the mistakes of 60s and 70s being repeated?' questions Mr. Tyagi. He says illegal colonies have been coming up in Yamuna floodplains for decades and they are the worst-hit in the floods. He says that the Akshardham Temple, Rajghat area, too belong to the floodplains.
