Delhi Art Gallery (DAG) Wins NDTV Masterstroke Art Award For Gallery Of The Year

The Delhi Art Gallery (DAG) has been named Gallery of the Year at the NDTV Masterstroke Art Awards, celebrating its pioneering role in shaping India’s visual art landscape for over three decades. Founded in 1993, DAG has grown into one of India’s most influential art institutions, known for its rigorous curatorial practice, landmark exhibitions, scholarly publications and commitment to preserving India’s artistic heritage. From reviving overlooked artists to presenting rare historical works, DAG has consistently opened new perspectives on Indian art. Accepting the award, gallery director Ashish Anand reflected on the journey of building the institution from the ground up. He highlighted DAG’s focus on democratising art, expanding beyond commercial galleries to museums, public spaces and collaborations across the country. Over recent years, DAG has broadened its scope to include 18th-century art, antiquarian photography and Anglo-Indian works, taking Indian art to new audiences nationwide.
