Leading Indian scientists have got together to oppose the statement of junior education minister Satyapal Singh that Charles Darwin's theory of evolution did not have scientific basis. There is outrage among the scientific community at Mr Singh's statements. He had said, "Darwin's theory (of evolution) is scientifically wrong. It needs to change in school and college curriculum. Since the man is seen on Earth he has always been a man." Leading Indian scientists say that it is retrograde to remove the teaching of the theory of evolution.
