In 2015, the film Spotlight, based on an investigation by The Boston Globe shone a light on rampant allegations of child sexual abuse by the Catholic Church. It now appears that the Church in Kerala is having its own Spotlight moment of the sexual abuse of women, and also of minors by priests. It began with allegations against some priests that they sexually exploited a woman over several years even using her confession in Church against her.
