There has been a 400 per cent rise in COVID-19 cases in China. China's state media, in a rare on-record admission of chaos in the country, said the country is facing a severe Covid surge. China is also expecting a peak in COVID-19 infections within a week. Its containment measures had slowed the economy to its lowest growth rate in nearly half a century, jamming global supply chains and trade.
