China News | China: Xi Jinping, Donald Trump Agree To Maintain Regular Communication

China's Foreign Ministry on Thursday said President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Donald Trump have agreed during their latest meeting in Seoul to "maintain regular communication." Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun briefed reporters in Beijing about the leaders' summit in Busan, a South Korean port city about 76 kilometers (47 miles) south from Gyeongju, the main venue for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. Thursday's meeting was a chance for the leaders of the world's two largest economies to stabilize relations after months of turmoil over trade issues. Jiakun also commented on Trump's remarks that the U.S. will restart its testing of nuclear weapons, urging Washington to respect its obligations under disarmament and non-proliferation treaties.
