Cauvery water dispute: countdown to final notification

The countdown has begun for the final notification of the award by the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal - that is meant to settle once and for all the ongoing tussle between states over the waters of the river Cauvery. But Karnataka is far from happy with the award and has approached the Supreme Court as soon as the details of the award were announced back in 2007. To make matters more stressful for the states - this was a poor monsoon year and the position of the dams in Karnataka's Cauvery basin is far from satisfactory.
