Govt okays Banking Laws Amendment Bill

The government is in a rush to push financial sector bills in the ongoing Budget session of the Parliament. As the first salvo, the cabinet has cleared the Banking Laws Amendment Bill 2011. This is aimed to further empower both the Centre and the RBI with an overarching supervisory role over banks.
