Dr Naresh Trehan, Medanta Hospitals' Managing Director, called the Union Budget "a down-up budget for healthcare". "To build the infrastructure at the ground level, to increase the ability to give critical care at the district level and the national level. Also, the significant part is that Rs 64,000 crore has been committed for PM Aatmanirbhar Swasthya programme, which is a twin sister of healthcare delivery system, so it does not have good civics amenities to support the rural sector," he said.
