Breakthrough Infections: Why Are People Getting COVID-19 Even After Vaccination?

A breakthrough infection is defined as an individual testing positive for COVID-19 more than two weeks after completing the full recommended doses of an authorised COVID vaccine. According to Dr Rahul Pandit, Director-Critical Care, Fortis Hospitals, Mumbai and Member of the National & Maharashtra COVID19 Taskforce, vaccinated individuals are getting infection but not at an alarmingly high rate. In fact, the six approved COVID-19 vaccines in India provide good protection from a severe disease and death.
