Is it time for the final scene of the final act in the drama that has governed the NDA and its politics especially over the last week? From all accounts a divorce of the BJP and the Janata Dal (United) is all but decided, and to be announced tomorrow. As the central BJP leadership tried to cajole an adamant Nitish Kumar against parting ways, state BJP leaders in Bihar took matters into their own hands and refused to accept an invitation by the chief minister to meet him. Nitish is reportedly furious at the snub. The question now is whether both the BJP and the JD(U) will survive this gamble come the next election. Will going it alone strengthen either party's hand or will it further weaken the only real opposition front, the NDA?
