The 'Dimagi Naxal' remark has triggered a sharp political faceoff between the BJP and Congress after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence Day speech. Former Home Minister P Chidambaram said he was a "proud Dimagi Naxal" while accusing the BJP of using the term as another attack on the Opposition. BJP leaders Kiren Rijiju and Ravi Shankar Prasad hit back, saying Chidambaram's remarks were unfortunate, shameful and irresponsible, and insisted that PM Modi's warning was aimed at those supporting Maoists and rejecting the Constitution.
