A fresh political row has erupted over the rendition of 'Vande Mataram' at Congress headquarters in Delhi on Independence Day. The BJP accused Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge of signalling for the song to be stopped, while Congress rejected the allegation, saying Sonia Gandhi was merely asking for a chair for Kharge. The controversy has once again brought the Congress' position on the full rendition of the National Song into the political spotlight.
