Bengaluru Startup Builds Amphibious Drones Amidst Urban Drone Warfare For Defense And Commercial Use

As drones increasingly become a key part of modern warfare and commercial operations, a Bengaluru-based startup has developed one of the country’s first amphibious drones capable of operating both in the air and underwater. This drone, developed by AquaAirX , can fly in the air, dive into water, and re-emerge to carry out missions, making it suitable for a range of defence and maritime applications. It is capable of carrying payloads of up to 10 kilograms and can be deployed from the air before diving into the sea and relaunching towards targets. AquaAirX was founded by two engineering classmates from Bengaluru's Nitte Meenakshi engineering College. The startup has also been selected under the Ministry of Defence’s Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) programme, and the Indian armed forces have shown interest in the amphibious drone platform.
