Heat wave conditions prevailed in many parts of Gangetic West Bengal and in isolated pockets over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Punjab, Bihar, north Haryana, Chandigarh and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Daytime temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius have been recorded for several days in a row in these regions, about 5 degrees above the seasonal average.
