Giving low doses of the generic steroid drug dexamethasone to patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19 reduced death rates by around a third among those with the most severe cases of infection, trial data showed on Tuesday. Senior Delhi Doctor, Dr Arvind Kumar, told NDTV that the drug has been used in India to treat COVID-19 patients and has shown encouraging results. He, however, said that the drug has shown good results only on people on ventilators and those who need oxygen support.
