A day after Bangladesh’s national elections, leading newspapers across Bangladesh project a sweeping victory for the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its allies. Publications including The Financial Express, The Daily Star, The Daily Observer, The Business Standard, Dhaka Tribune and The Daily Sun splashed headlines predicting a landslide, with early unofficial results showing BNP and its alliance crossing the majority mark. Several papers highlighted largely peaceful voting, a strong showing by Jamaat-e-Islami, and a reported “Yes” vote in the national referendum. BNP leader Tarique Rahman urged party workers to refrain from victory rallies and instead offer prayers, a call prominently featured across front pages.
