Bangladesh Plane Crash | "Explosion, Fire, Smoke..." Eyewitness Recalls Horror As Plane Crash Kills 19

At least 19 people were killed when a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into a school and college campus in Dhaka on July 21. The crash occurred at the Milestone School and College in Uttara, as the F-7 BGI training aircraft took off at 13:06 local time. More than 50 individuals, including children and adults, were hospitalised with burns, according to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Videos of the aftermath showed a large fire near a building, with thick plumes of smoke rising into the sky. Firefighters worked to douse the flames, as the wreckage of the plane damaged iron grills and left a gaping hole in the structure. A third-grade student was confirmed dead at the scene, while others, aged 12, 14, and 40, were admitted to the hospital. Witnesses described chaotic scenes as victims screamed in horror, and others tried to comfort them. Bangladesh's interim Govt leader, Muhammad Yunus, vowed to investigate the cause of the crash and provide necessary assistance. The tragedy follows a similar disaster in India's Ahmedabad, where an Air India plane crashed just over a month ago, killing 241 people and 19 on the ground.
