“Bangladesh Is at the Brink”: Taslima Nasreen Warns of Extremism, Minority Persecution

Bangladesh's exiled author Taslima Nasreen has sounded an alarm over what she describes as a grave crisis in Bangladesh, citing violence against Hindus, persecution of women, and growing fear among free thinkers. She alleges that decades of political patronage have strengthened religious extremism, questions the credibility of upcoming elections with a major party barred, and calls for the restoration of secularism in the Constitution. Warning that further exploitation of religion could push the country towards collapse, Nasreen draws parallels with Iran’s protest movement and says Bangladesh may be headed for a similar uprising. She also rejects claims that India is responsible for the crisis and questions the credibility of the Nobel Peace Prize, targeting Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus.
