Assam IPS Couple Honoured With Prestigious Medals for Outstanding Service on Independence Day

In a remarkable achievement in the history of Assam Police, an IPS couple from Assam was honored with prestigious medals for their service to the nation on Independence Day in Guwahati. Dr. Partha Sarathi Mahanta, the Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, and a 2006 batch IPS officer, was awarded the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service in recognition of his outstanding leadership and dedicated contributions to policing in the state. Mahanta also heads the Assam Police Special Task Force (STF). Over the past few years, Mahanta has led several successful operations for Assam Police. His wife, Indrani Baruah, an IPS officer serving as the Deputy Inspector General of Police (CWR) in Assam, will be honored with the Chief Minister’s Special Service Medal for her exemplary performance in crisis situations.
