Assam Floods: Dhemaji Drowns As Thousands Fight To Survive

Assam's Dhemaji district has emerged as the worst-hit region in the latest wave of floods, with nearly 50,000 people affected as swollen rivers inundated villages, destroyed homes and submerged vast stretches of farmland. Families who had nurtured their paddy fields for months have watched their crops disappear under floodwaters, while many have also lost livestock, homes and their primary source of livelihood. Hundreds of displaced residents are now living in relief camps set up by the district administration, uncertain about when they will be able to return home.
