Addressing the DNPA Conclave 2026, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw called on social media platforms to take full responsibility for the content hosted on their platforms, stressing that online safety, especially for children and citizens, must be a top priority. He said synthetic content should not be generated without the consent of individuals whose face, voice, or identity is used. The minister also demanded fair revenue sharing with content creators, including journalists, conventional media, influencers, researchers, and independent creators, asserting that platforms must cooperate with society’s evolving digital expectations.
