Asaduddin Owaisi's Party Faces Challenge From BJP's Madhavi Latha In Hyderabad
The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen or AIMIM has maintained an unbroken hold on the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat since 1984. The incumbent MP and chief of AIMIM Asaduddin Owaisi has won the seat four times consecutively since 2004, while his father Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi won it six times consecutively before that. To challenge Mr Owaisi, the BJP has nominated Kompella Madhavi Latha, a classical dancer and entrepreneur. Speaking to the media in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Madhavi Latha stated that she will focus on empowering Muslim women if she is elected.
