As Sivok-Rangpo Rail Link Makes Significant Progress, Sikkim Soon To Be On Railway Map Of India

Sikkim is preparing to welcome trains to the state as the Indian Railways is targeting completion of the Sivok-Rangpo railway link project soon. A 5-hour road journey will be completed in less than an hour once the project is complete. This is one of the most challenging railway projects being undertaken in the country and once complete Sikkim will also be connected by the Indian Railways. NDTV tracks this critical and strategically important railway project in the northeastern state of Sikkim as the state celebrates 50 years of statehood. In the words of the Sikkim Chief Minister, while Sikkim is one of the most integrated states, it remains one of the least connected and this is an issue that is being addressed with the focus on rail and air connectivity and an alternate highway as well.
