Aftermath Of Nepal Flashflood Tragedy: Towns Reduced To Ruins, Hundreds Killed, Thousands Missing
Towns and villages left ruined in Nepal, on August 27, following deadly flash floods, killing hundreds. Rescuers searched for survivors in the debris-strewn valleys and hillsides of Nepal and neighbouring China. Thousands went missing after wall of ice, mud & rock collapsed into a mountain river, triggering the catastrophe. Local media put the death toll at 359, with dozens of bodies swept down into the plains from where they were being recovered. The Red Cross said, entire villages destroyed and impassable roads & bridges left communities cut off. Amid several reports of devastation and casualties due to the disaster, full scale of the disaster remains unclear.
