Pakistan’s military says its ongoing air and ground operations in Afghanistan have killed at least 274 Afghan forces and affiliated militants and wounded over 400. Army spokesperson Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said 12 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 27 injured, with one missing in action. Islamabad accused Afghanistan’s Taliban government of backing militant groups including the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), al-Qaida and Islamic State. Pakistan claims it destroyed 73 military posts, captured 18 and hit installations in Kabul and other provinces after cross-border raids and firing at 53 locations along its frontier. The military says operations are continuing and were conducted to avoid civilian casualties.
