Academicians have expressed concerns over delay in holding convocations for 12 state universities in Tamil Nadu. More than nine lakh qualified candidates have not received their degrees, some even two years after successfully completing their courses. The state Higher Education Minister K Ponmudy has blamed Governor RN Ravi for the delay. He alleges the Governor wants to invite only union Ministers as chief guests, which causes delay. While the issue has revived the tussle between the elected MK Stalin government and the Governor, Raj Bhavan sources claim only seven universities had sought dates and the Governor has given nod for four. NDTV's Sam Daniel, spoke to academician and career consultant Jayaprakash Gandhi.
