On July 1st, terrorists linked to Al-Qaeda launched a bold attack on the Diamond Cement Factory in Kayes, Mali, kidnapping three Indian nationals in the process. This wasn’t an isolated strike. It was part of a wider assault hitting seven towns across the country. In response, the Malian army says it killed over 80 militants in intense firefights.
