11-Year-Old Dies In Pune Pothole: Are Maharashtra's Priorities Wrong?

11-year-old Rishab Patole was killed in Pune after the motorcycle he was travelling on with his father and sister hit a broken stretch of road, skidded and fell into a pothole, sending him under the wheels of a passing truck. The tragedy comes as Maharashtra's government orders civic bodies to make roads pothole-free ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi. At the same time, RTOs are beginning checks on whether auto and taxi drivers have working knowledge of Marathi. This raises a larger question about priorities: while language rules generate political headlines, who is being held accountable for roads that continue to put lives at risk?
