Coimbatore: The VHP on Monday said that it would move court to get Ram Setu declared a national monument and slammed the Congress led UPA government for shifting to the Supreme Court the task of taking a decision on the matter.
"When it was possible for the Centre to bring in so many measures to protect the interests of minorities, it must do the same to protect the faith and honour of Hindus," Raghava Reddy, VHP International President told reporters here today.
He said the VHP would file a petition in the Supreme Court and its Tamil Nadu unit in the Madras High Court to get Ram Setu declared a national monument. At the same time, it would chalk out a programme to pressurise the Centre to take a positive stand on the issue, he said.
Being an election year, India would witness a visible change with Hindus across the country unitedly deciding the fate of the country, he claimed.
He also demanded that the Centre withdraw the 4.5 per cent reservation for minorities, "which is being provided at the cost of backward Hindus."
