The prestigious Tsinghua University in Beijing organised a festival ‘Global Village 2010' inviting various countries to participate and showcase their culture. The introduction to the Indian classical dances turned out to be quite a crowd puller. Many students spontaneously joined the dance teacher to learn a few steps.

The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) had organised a reception for the visiting Indian President Smt. Pratibha Patil on May 28, 2010. On that occasion, a performance of Indian Tabla and the Chinese instrument ‘Yangqin', one of China's four most important traditional musical instruments, which resembles Santoor, was held. This performance by Chinese artist Ms. Liu Yuening and Shri Chakravarty from the Indian Embassy Culture Wing was much appreciated by the audience including the President herself and Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping.
