Here's a look at NDTV's Green ambassador Priyanka Chopra's journey so far...

Priyanka, born on 18 July 1982, is also former Miss World. Before starting her acting career, she worked as a model and gained fame after winning the Miss World title in 2000.

Priyanka was born in Jamshedpur to Ashok Chopra and Madhu Akhauri, both physicians by profession. She spent her childhood in Bareilly, UP then Newton, Massachusetts; and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Her father was in the Army and thus her family moved quite frequently. Her father hailed from a family of Punjabi origin, settled in Bareilly and her mother comes from a family settled in Jamshedpur. She also has a younger brother, Siddharth.

Priyanka studied at La Martiniere Girls' School in Lucknow.

After re-locating to the US, she studied in Newton South High School in Newton, Massachusetts and then in John F. Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She returned to India and did her high school at Army School in Bareilly. She began college at Jai Hind College in Mumbai.

Priyanka aimed to become a software Engineer or a Criminal Psychologist but was bulldozed by her friends to take part in the Miss Bareilly contest, which she won easily. Prior to winning the Miss World pageant, she did fashion shows, modelling and even a music video.

Priyanka came second at the Femina Miss India 2000 competition and was crowned Femina Miss India World and was subsequently sent to the Miss World pageant where she was crowned Miss World 2000. When Priyanka won the Miss World crown, she became the fifth Indian woman to win the title, and the fourth Indian woman to win in a span of seven years.

Priyanka had an alleged affair with her Andaaz co-star Akshay Kumar.

She also shared a warm relation with Hurman Baweja. The two also did movies together - Love Story 2050 and What's Your Raashee?.

Priyanka and Shahid were linked during the making of the blockbuster Kaminey.

Now coming to her filmy career, Priyanka made her debut in the 2002 Tamil film Thamizhan.

The following year, in 2003, Priyanka made her Bollywood debut opposite Sunny Deol in The Hero: Love Story of a Spy. She was, however, only a second lead as the leading lady of that film was Preity Zinta.

In 2003, Priyanka teamed up with Akshay Kumar for the first of many times to come for the film Andaaz. Apart from her and Akki, the film also starred Lara Dutta. Priyanka was the runnerup at the 2000 Miss India pageant that Lara won, and their rivalry continues till today.

In 2004, Priyanka teamed up with Akshay and Salman for the comedy flick Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.

The actress teamed up again with Akshay Kumar and this time in a negative role in Aetraaz, for which she also bagged a Filmfare Best Villain Award.

In 2005, there was more of Akki-Priyanka in Waqt: A Race Against Time. It is said that by this time their reel life chemistry was a little too good for Akki's wife Twinkle who was reportedly uncomfortable with them working together.

Also in 2005, Priyanka teamed up with Abhishek Bachchan for Bluffmaster which was a big hit. In spite of excellent singing talents, she chose not to sing the promotional track Right her right now for which Abhishek rapped!

There was more success for Priyanka in 2006 as she teamed up with Bollywood hottie Hrithik Roshan for the supernatural thriller Krrissh which was a superhit film.

Priyanka joined hands with superstar SRK for a remake of Don, directed by Farhan Akhtar. Despite doubts by purists, the film was termed super slick and Priyanka sizzled with SRK.

In 2007, Priyanka acted in the ensemble film Salaam-e-Ishq in which she was paired up with Salman Khan once again.

The best and worst of Priyanka came in 2008, that began with a series of flops. The first among these was the futuristic Love Story 2050 opposite then beau Harman Baweja. The film received universally bad reviews and went down without much of a whimper.

More disappointments came Priyanka's way in 2008, as her next film, God Tussi Great Ho opposite Salman, also starring Amitabh Bachchan, too flopped.

Furthering her disastrous run in 2008, Priyanka then appeared in Chamku opposite Bobby Deol. She said she did the film because she was indebted to the Deols for giving her a break in Bollywood.

The final disaster of 2008 was the mythological superhero movie Drona opposite Abhishek Bachchan.

Priyanka didn't give up hope despite the terrible run of 2008, and gave a stellar performance in Madhur Bhandarkar's Fashion. She bagged all the awards for this role.

More success came Priyanka's way in 2008 with Dostana. While the film centred more attention towards her co-star John and Abhishek, she was happy with its success.

Priyanka appeared in Vishal Bharadwaj's Kaminey in 2009 opposite Shahid Kapoor. The film was a mega hit.

Priyanka was paired with ex-beau Harman Baweja for Ashutosh Gowariker's film, What's Your Rashee?. Priyanka made history with playing 12 roles in the film. But still the film didn't do well at the box office.

Priyanka was paired opposite Uday Chopra in a beauty and the geek story Pyaar Impossible.

Priyanka recently wrapped up the shooting of Vishal Bharadwaj's movie Saat Khoon Maaf. She will also be seen in Sanjay Gupta's Chamki Chameli.
