Vaani Kapoor was born on August 23, 1988 in Delhi. Her father is a furniture exports entrepreneur and her mother is a teacher-turned marketing executive. She has an elder sister Nupur Chopra.

Vaani Kapoor did her schooling at the Mata Jai Kaur Public School in Ashok Vihar, Delhi. She has a bachelor's degree in tourism studies from Indira Gandhi National Open University.

Vaani Kapoor did an internship with Oberoi Hotels & Resorts in Jaipur and later worked for ITC Hotel.

Vaani Kapoor began her modelling career with Elite Model Management and has walked the ramp for designers like Payal Singhal, Sailex Nairangbam.

Vaani Kapoor has featured in television commercials for Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri Jewellery and Cadbury Dairy Milk Silk.

Vaani Kapoor later signed a three-film deal with the Yash Raj Films.

Vaani Kapoor's debut film Shudh Desi Romance earned her several awards and nominations, including the Best Female Debut at the 59th Filmfare Awards.

In 2014, Vaani Kapoor featured Tamil film Aaha Kalyanam, which was a remake of 2010 Hindi film Band Baaja Baaraat. Her performance in the film was appreciated by everyone.

Vaani Kapoor was last seen in Befikre opposite Ranveer Singh. The film failed to impress the critics and the audience.
