Punjabi kudi: Charmy Kaur was born on March 17, 1987 in Mumbai -
She went to school at Carmelite Convent English High School in Vasai. -
At the tender age of 15 she debuted in Telugu film Nee Thodu Kaavali (2002), playing a housewife. The film was a flop. -
The industry took note of Charmy despite the failure of her debut vehicle and she was cast in Kadhal Azhavatillai with Silambarasan. This one bombed as well. -
She followed it up with Kattuchembakam, directed by Vinayan, and a handful of Tamil films, all forgettable. -
Her re-entry in Telugu cinema was with Sreekanth in movie which again was a failure; then in Sri Anjaneyam, directed by ace director Krishna Vamsi she again failed to perform. -
That was followed by yet another failure Chanti, this time with Ravi Teja. -
Charmy finally got her big break with Gowri, costarring Sumanth. -
Mass with Nagarjuna was a runaway hit, consolidating her position as an emerging force down South. -
Charmy's most critically acclaimed film so far is Anukokunda Oka Roju. Her performance in the 2005 thriller was applauded by many. -
In 2006 she appeared in Pournami which sank without a trace but did bring in some appreciation for Charmy's performance. Despite being an untrained dancer her dance sequences in the movie were impressive. -
Later that year she was paired for the second time with Sumanth in Chinnodu. This movie again failed to impress. -
Her next film, Rakhi in 2006 was a hit. -
2007's Mantra, a thriller with Charmy in the lead, was not only a surprise hit – it also bagged her the Nandi Award for Best Actress. -
She starred in several female-oriented movies, a rare thing in Tollywood.
Anukokunda Oka Roju, Mantra, Manorama, Kavya's Diary in Telugu and Laadam in Tamil. -
Her perfromance in Anukokunda Oka Roju got her the Santosham Best Actress Award and CineMAA Award for Best Actress (Jury) in 2005. -
Besides these, she has also given many item numbers in movies like Bhale Dongalu, King, Mahatma etc. -
She is also filming another number for Ragada to be released in 2011. -
Nagarjuna's Ragada has Anushka and Priyamani playing the lead roles.
