Cars ready to hit the roads

With four-cylinder direct injection turbocharged petrol engine, Volvo XC60 has a unique City Safety Collision avoidance technology. Other safety features include Drive Alert Control, Lane Departure warning, Active Bending Lights and Drive Information System.

BMW defines this six cylinder in-line petrol engine car as "At first glance a compact X model, on second glance the challenge of getting to know something new." The safety features of the car include six airbags inside a passenger cell with defined deformation zone, Xenon headlights, Adaptive headlights and auto emergency call function.

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the newer version of Maruti SX4, packed with newer generation BS IV compliant petrol engine. The exterior of the car remains almost the same but the interiors have been revamped with new features like tachometer, speedometer with illumination control, switch illumination colour and information display.

After Nissan Micra did good business in the petrol variant, the company is now launching its diesel version. Other models from the company that are in the pipeline are Nissan Murano, Nissan Pixo, Nissan Qashqai and Nissan ULC.

With a 2 litre TDI CR (Common Rail) engine and a 6-speed manual transmission featuring an advance real time four-wheel drive system, Skoda Yeti has six airbags, intelligent 4x4 Haldex system, off-road assistant, corner function for fog lamps, hill descent control and VarioFlex seating system as also a host of safety features.

After Elantra proved to be a dampener in India, Hyundai will launch the car with the new name, Hyundai Avante. It has all the standard safety features such as EBD (Electronic Brake force Distribution) and ABS (Anti Lock Brake system). The car is fitted with dual airbags in the front, side curtain and side impact airbags. The company is expected to launch Hyundai Avante in both petrol and diesel models.

Maruti Suzuki is set to take on Tata Nano with its Cervo in the entry-degree segment. It is a five-door hatchback equipped with the .7L, 660cc petrol motor.

This 4-door hatchback designed electric vehicle is operated by electricity produced by on-board battery or gasoline engine. which can be charged in just eight hours in normal volt condition. The Volt battery has gone through numerous tests, including corrosion and hot- and cold-weather testing and the 16-kWh lithium-ion battery pack is backed by an 1,00,000 mile/8-year warranty.

Toyota Etios sedan and hatchback are equipped with 1.5 litre petrol engine and 1.2 litre petrol mill. The sedan's 1.5 litre petrol engine will produce 102 bhp of peak power while the mill is likely to generate around 80 bhp of power. The company expects to capture a considerable space in the small space segment with the new launch.

Maruti Suzuki Kizashi is a mid segment sedan with a 2.4 litre engine capacity with four-cylinder giving high-output complimented with VVT Technology. The car is targeted to compete with Volkwagon Passat, Acuta TSX and Alfa Romeo 159.
