- A content creator urged people to stop complaining about 9-to-5 jobs while relying on salaries
- Disha Desai admitted to past complaints but stressed building an alternative income source
- She highlighted that salaries fund essential expenses like rent, vacations, and investments
A content creator has sparked a discussion online after urging people to stop constantly complaining about their 9-to-5 jobs while relying on their salaries to fund their lifestyles. In a viral Instagram video, Disha Desai reflected on her own experience with corporate life, admitting that she has complained about it in the past. However, she said people who genuinely dislike their jobs should eventually work towards creating an alternative career or source of income.
Desai pointed out that until that alternative is built, a regular salary continues to pay for everyday expenses such as rent, vacations, social outings, and investments. She suggested that employees should recognise the financial security their jobs provide while working towards a different path if corporate life is not what they want in the long run.
"I've seen so many people complain about corporate life, and honestly, I've been one of them too. But now I feel that if we hate our 9-to-5 so badly, then it is upon us to build something else and make it work. And until the time we do that, until the time we figure out another source of income, our office salary is what is paying for our rent, our vacations, our parties, our future investments, basically our entire lifestyles. So, we cannot be cribbing so much about corporate life all the time," Desai said in the clip.
She encouraged people who strongly dislike their careers to focus on building the financial independence needed to move on instead of repeatedly resenting their current jobs.
"We can't force ourselves to love our jobs. But if our job is funding our life, we probably shouldn't spend every day resenting it," the caption of the video read.

The video drew mixed reactions online. Many users agreed with Desai's practical perspective, saying a steady income provides the financial foundation for much of their lifestyle.
Others noted that burnout, excessive workloads and toxic workplace cultures are legitimate concerns and should not simply be dismissed as complaining.
