A heartwarming story shared on social media has captured the attention of thousands online, after a young entrepreneur revealed how he treated his mother to a pair of designer glasses worth over one thousand dollars (roughly 84,000 rupees), following a spontaneous video call while she was shopping.

Sahil Raj Kumar, who describes himself as the Managing Director of VedicCraft on his LinkedIn profile, shared the anecdote on X, formerly known as Twitter. He recalled how his mother, who is financially comfortable but rarely spends on luxuries for herself, was browsing glasses at a shop when she called him over video to show some of the pairs she was trying on.

When she found a pair she liked, priced at around 1,200 dollars (approximately 1,00,500 rupees), she immediately dismissed the idea of buying them. Kumar stepped in and offered to pay, but his mother was unconvinced. She told him she would only accept such a gift once he was earning between five and six lakh rupees a month, roughly four to five thousand dollars (around 3,35,000 to 4,18,000 rupees), and had saved enough to afford it comfortably.

Kumar then spent the better part of half an hour persuading her that his income already exceeded that figure. Once she finally believed him, she agreed to let him buy the glasses.

He described the experience as "a very wholesome day," and the post quickly resonated with social media users who praised the sentiment behind the gesture.

The story touched a nerve with many online, reflecting a familiar dynamic in many South Asian families, where parents are often reluctant to accept financial help from their children, even when those children are doing well for themselves.
