- Rana described marriage as a personal choice that provided him stability
Actor Rana Daggubati prefers to keep his personal life private. However, in a recent chat with Rhea Chakraborty on her podcast, Chapter 2 with Rhea Chakraborty, he opened up about how the pandemic changed his life and led him to marry Miheeka Bajaj.
During the conversation, Rhea reminded him that he had once randomly called her to say he was getting married the next day. She asked what led to such a sudden shift.
What Rana Daggubati Said
Rana Daggubati explained that the pandemic played a major role. He said, "The pandemic really did that. And when, in 2020, I just came back from the States, and then the pandemic came, I was like, 'Dude, I just got ready. Now, what is this?' And somewhere, I felt like the US prepped me for a pandemic. I was by myself already."
For those who may not know, the Baahubali actor had earlier battled serious health issues, including heart complications and kidney failure. He had gone to the US for treatment, which involved surgery and long post-operative care.
He continued, "And it was at that point, when I started talking to Miheeka, and I realised, okay, this is somebody I can live with for the rest of my life. I felt like it when I was speaking to her for the first time."
"We knew each other as acquaintances only, not like we were really friends or anything. We kept talking through the pandemic. We just connected, and we said, 'Okay, let's get married.' And we got married. And it was awesome because it was the pandemic. I did not have to make a big celebration of it. (It was just both the families."
Rana and Miheeka married in Hyderabad in August 2020. The wedding was intimate, with around 30 guests, following social-distancing norms.
Later in the chat, Rhea Chakraborty asked Rana Daggubati about marriage in general. She pointed out how many young people today feel confused about whether they should get married at all. She added that there is a lot of doubt among Gen Z and even younger millennials about whether marriage really adds anything to life.
The actor answered honestly. "See, I think it is a personal one-on-one thing. It differs for each person. I could not be tied down anywhere. Sometimes it is like I am just a kite. I can just fly off anywhere. I just blow the wind. It is like, okay, now I want to live in LA. I can just go and live off there," Rana Daggubati said.
After admitting that he always had a free spirit, he shared that at some point, the energy shifted. "So, I was like, okay, that is not the energy I need now. I need something to hold on to in some way. And I think Miheeka was that for me. And marriage did that for me. She has a very zen energy," he concluded.
On the work front, Rana Daggubati was last seen in the Netflix show Rana Naidu Season 2, released in June 2025.
